ANTICIPATING our upcoming move to Germany, Rijen took some time off so we could visit family and friends in Utah. We were so excited for Fiona’s first big trip and for her to meet more of Rijen’s family.
Fiona is very lucky to have been able to meet two great-grandmas. Great Grandma Lund was able to hold her and keep her from crying during our visit to her house.
Someone who really spoiled and looked after Fiona was her cousin, Meghan. She held her, talked to her, took tons of pictures of her on her phone and even painted her toenails! OMG LOL! Meghan, if you are reading this right now, you need to send me a txt, OK?
We got to see friends as well–
My playgroup friends from East Mill Creek in Salt Lake. Our moms had babies close together and for years we switched around and played at each other’s houses. We organized a playgroup reunion of sorts, although only three of the original six could make it.
The most important thing though, was that the new playgroup generation seemed to get along really well….although Fiona did fall asleep and didn’t contribute too much to the conversation. Maybe in a few years…..
Other important friends Fiona HAD to meet were my good friends from my mission (Leipzig, Germany 2000-1). Joan (Ehemalige Sister Riddle) has been wonderful enough to host these impromptu get-togethers when I am in town. For a more entertaining explanation of the following pictures, read about it on her blog: lifeoftheriddle. Suffice it to say, we have expanded by more babies in 2009, plus Joan and I forgot to coordinate our wardrobes. I’m looking forward to our next reunion…perhaps by then Jim will have his own crying baby to fit with him in the chair.
